Pedro Gonzalez-Fernandez
Pedro Gonzalez-Fernandez creates tuneful indie folk exploring memory, trauma, and the urban sprawl, against deceptively simple arrangements that draw from his classical training in composition and experience in bands like D.C.'s bellflur. His live sets are intimate performances that feature nuanced vocals (including a falsetto with remarkable dynamic control) accompanied by piano, guitar, and electronics. Pedro has released two albums that set the poetry of contemporary writers to music. The Ghosts of Handsome Skin (2023) and necessary stranger [songs] (2020) feature words from writers Pablo D'Stair and Graham Foust, respectively.
After completing these records, Pedro began his most personal songwriting effort yet: a batch of stripped down, semi-autobiographical songs that explore class, mental health, and his experience as a bi-racial person growing up in the D.C. Metropolitan area. Check out his Instagram account for a glance into his compositional process! In addition to songwriting, Pedro has composed scores for film and video game projects. Most recently, he provided the score for the video game, Family Tech Support, and two episodes of People | Things.
